The Darkness 2 release date delayed to 2012, but Comic-Con demo set for Xbox 360, PS3, PC

Xbox 360, PS3, PC News: A playable demo of The Darkness 2 is the only way you'll be able to play it in 2011. 2K Games pushed it back to the less crowded Q1 2012 - February 7

Prepare to rip out hearts a week ahead of Valentines Day 2012. The Darkness 2 release date has been adjusted to February 7, 2012, when this Xbox 360, PS3 and PC title was supposed to come out on October 4 2011. At first glance, the delay is disheartening and peculiar given the game's far-long state. We got a chance to play the game weeks ahead of E3 2011 and again at the Los Angeles-based game. Furthermore, a demo of The Darkness 2 will give the general public a chance to play the game at San Diego Comic-Con.

Of course, then you remember that The Darkness 2 is a first-person shooter. So, yes, it looks spectacular, has a fascinating story and follows the well-received The Darkness 1. But there are a dozen other fall-bound FPS games: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, Rage, Resistance 3, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Established, yearly games like CoD: Black Ops and semi-yearly titles like Resistance 3 are just too competitive for a one-time sequel like The Darkness 2.

Luckily, that aforementioned Comic-Con demo of The Darkness 2 will be at booth #2629, where the comic book publisher Top Cow Productions plans to have seven kiosks dedicated to the game. Also, since The Darkness games are based on a the Top Cow-created comic book, San Diego Comic-Con attendees can go to a 2K Games-hosted panel entitled УSpreading The Darkness.Ф That's happening on Thursday, July 21 at 12:00 P.M. in Room 9.
