Xbox 360 News: The Witcher 2 is coming to Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East courtesy of THQ.
Critically acclaimed PC title The Witcher 2 is bound for the Xbox 360, we found out at E3 2011 earlier this month. But while we assumed that Atari would most likely handle the console game's distribution in North Amercia, which company would take the reigns in the rest of the world, where the publisher had Namco Bandai handled the PC version? THQ and its new budding partners program are claiming credit, according to a press release issued this morning.
"We are excited to work with CD Projekt RED to bring this unique role-playing game to Xbox 360 gamers.Ф said Tim Walsh, VP of THQ Partners. УTHQ Partners' mission is to work with world class game creators who want to bring their games to market utilizing THQ's best-in-class global distribution channels."
This news also confirmed details we suspected about The Witcher 2's PC-to-Xbox-360 translation. Namely, it'll be an Уenhanced adaptationФ of the PC game from mid-May. Patches and DLC are the likely source of these Уenhancements,Ф but we won't find out for sure until closer to the end of the year. That's when the developer and its new distribution partner plan to release the console game to the PAL territories. And, no, PS3 gamers, there's still not a peep from anyone on a potential PS3 version of The Witcher 2. Better luck next press release.
