News: See how the Cars 2 is different from the movie in these two developer diaries before the game releases on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PC and 3DS.

The development team behind the Cars 2 videogame were able to expand on the upcoming Disney-Pixar movie of the same name in several ways. Two of those ways are by penning a deeper backstory for Holly and exploring C.H.R.O.M.E., the CGI film's secret spy agency. In preparation for the game's June 21 release date, Disney and developer Avalanche Software detail these movie-expanding idea in two developer diaries.

Both videos feature gameplay footage, which takes on the form of light-hearted arcade racing mixed with an equally fun-looking weapons system. The videos also go into detail about the game's development with members of both Avalanche Software and Pixar contributing to the developer diaries.

Cars 2: The Video Game comes of the day before Cars 2 the film, which is set to release in theaters on June 22. As Gaming Target mentioned in a previous news story, the Cars 2 for PS3 will be the only console version of the game available in stereoscopic 3D, just like the movie experience. The game is also releasing on Xbox 360, Wii, PC and Nintendo 3DS. I think that it's a pretty safe assumption that the 3DS version will also be in 3D.
