News: The International CES is about to get butt-stomped by Mario.
The International Consumer Electronics Show used to be an important destination for game developers and publishers. All of that changed with the birth of E3 in 1995, but in 1994, Las Vegas was the place to be. It was there that Nintendo showcased "Project Reality," the working title for what would eventually become the Nintendo 64.
The 2011 CES will once again take place in Las Vegas, from January 6th through the 9th and Nintendo is coming back in a big way. The publisher will headline the trade show's new Gaming Showcase alongside AMD, HP, Intel, Lenovo, LevelUp, Logitech, Microsoft, Nokia, Sony and more.
УWith the gaming market expected to generate $20.3 million in 2010, the International CES is the must-stop hub for innovative gaming products, and will allow CES attendees to experience the future of gaming from an amazing range of innovative companies,Ф said Karen Chupka, senior vice president, events and conferences, CEA. УThe Gaming Showcase at CES will feature the hottest gaming trends for the coming year."
While we don't know, as of yet, what Nintendo has planned for CES, I'd bet good money that the 3DS is involved somehow.
Who knows, maybe that's where Nintendo plans to announce the North American release date.
Whatever happens, we'll have more soon.
