News: With an announcement coming soon.

Guillermo Del Toro recently sat down with the MTV Multiplayer Blog and confirmed he's working with THQ on a series of video games. The famed film director said that THQ will be formally announcing the first game any day now, but we shouldn't expect to play it anytime soon:

"With THQ we're looking at around a three year developing deadline for each game. Big games. More details forthcoming, but we are truly exploring them in a serious manner. Expect the first game, best case scenario, 2013," he said.

With the game still three years away, any discussion of platforms or gameplay details is a tad premature. But Del Toro was willing to talk a bit about the game's concept:

"It's horror... but it's a very different type of horror game. It's not survival horror. It's truly a strange, geeky mix. It's a Lovecraftian thing," Del Toro explained.

So Guillermo Del Toro + Lovecraftian horror = awesome new trilogy of games. Come on THQ, announce it already!

We'll have more soon.
