Microsoft cancelled development of the PC version of Alan Wake back in July. But they decided to announce it again yesterday through Strategy Informer just as the Xbox 360 version has been given a release date. Probably because they really wanted to rub some salt in the wound as PC gamers have been waiting five years for Alan Wake and now they won't get to play it. Might as well tell 'em twice.
Microsoft's statement read:
Some games are more suited for the intimacy of the PC, and others are best played from the couch in front of a larger TV screen. We ultimately realised that the most compelling way to experience "Alan Wake" was on the Xbox 360 platform, so we focused on making it an Xbox 360 exclusive. Both Microsoft and Remedy have long histories in PC game development. This decision was about matching this specific game to the right platform.
We'll have more on the PC version of Alan Wake soon if Microsoft decides to cancel it a third time.
