News: Whoa. That's like getting $120 worth of stuff for $80.
This week, Best Buy has been running a "Buy 2 Games, Get 1 Free" promotion that applies to any game priced at $59.99 or lower. Now, Amazon.com has roughly matched that with a promotion they're referring to as "Spend $80, Get a $40 Credit".
Amazon's promotion is slightly less inclusive than Best Buy's, but it works like this:
Purchase two or more titles totalling $80 or more from a list of 624 Selected Games between now and October 31 using Amazon as the seller (i.e. not a third-party seller).
Wait seven days after all of the games from your order have shipped.
Receive $40 promotional code in your email.
There are a few other restrictions to the promotion listed in the fine print. They include a rule stating that the promotional code can only be used on the future purchase of a PS3, Wii or Xbox 360 game (it's that an all purpose Amazon gift card) and that the code can only be applied to one purchase. So if the game you're eyeing with your $40 code is $30, you'll lose the remaining $10 credit. All promotional must also be used by December 31, 2009 or they will become invalid.
While the promotion does have a wide variety of restrictions on it, the list of "selected games" includes many of this year's biggest hits such as Uncharted 2, The Beatles: Rock Band, Borderlands, Brutal Legend, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Wii Sports Resort and more.
It's almost like free money you can use towards this November's biggest releases like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and New Super Mario Bros. Wii
