News: Epic's Tim Sweeney believes the consoles are our future.
In an interview with TG Daily, the head of Epic, Tim Sweeney, has revealed that the next version of the Unreal Engine will focus exclusively on the next-generation of consoles first. PC support will be secondary and will come later:
Version 4 will exclusively target the next console generation, Microsoft's successor for the Xbox 360, Sony's successor for the Playstation 3 - and if Nintendo ships a machine with similar hardware specs, then that also. PCs will follow after that.
No other real details were revealed in the interview. But it was hinted that we likely won't see it before 2012.
No doubt, somewhere, Mark Rein is having a hissy fit.
