News: New PS3 controller to be available in Spring 2008.
Sony has finally officially revealed the first details of their upcoming "Dual Shock 3" controller for the PlayStation 3. According to Sony, the Dual Shock 3 "inherits the basic design and functionality of the popular PlayStation controller, while keeping the high-precision, high response motion sensitive six-axis sensing system."
With a description like that, I'd say it's reasonable to assume the basic design of the controller will not change much if at all from the current SIXAXIS design. The Dual Shock 3 will be available in Japan in November, with North America and Europe getting their chance to shake with the PS3 in Spring 2008.
Sony has also released a preliminary list of games they expect will be compatible with the Dual Shock 3. Many of the currently available games on the list will be patched with rumble support when the controller is released, so it's possible this list will grow considerably between now and next Spring.
