News: Ubisoft is now the proud new owner of the Driver series and their developer.

Atari has announced that they've sold the rights to the Driver series and series developer Reflections Interactive to Ubisoft for $24 million.

Atari will retain the sales rights to the first three Driver games for the next three months. Driver: Parallel Lines will stay Atari property until December 31, 2006.

Reflections is currently working on Driver 5 for the PS3, which was revealed in a PS3 development list release by Sony back in September. It does not currently have a release date nor has it been announced by Atari.

In announcing the sale, Atari CEO Bruno Bonnell said "In the driving category, we consider Test Drive our key franchise which will require more resources and attention to build it as a landmark of its genre."

We'll have more as it develops.
