Chris Morris is reporting in his Game Over column for CNN Money that Sony has told retailers, developers and publishers that their PSP handheld has been delayed in North America and Europe. Though they have confirmed that the Japanese release is still on schedule for November 2004. The new North American/European date is unknown, but is believed to be during the first quarter (January to March) of 2005. Sony representatives cited the desire for more games at launch as the reason for the delay.
"The reason we pushed it out here is we wanted to be sure there's a reasonable amount of software titles to launch with hardware," said Teresa Weaver, a spokesperson for Sony Computer Entertainment.
According to the article the PSP currently has planned support from EA (8-12 titles are being prepared for the launch), THQ (2-3 titles) and obviously Sony.
