News: More sports franchises are taking the year off. It's starting to get weird.

989 Sports games have been picking up steam in the last year, but according to GameSpot, the company has cut its 2005 football and basketball offerings. So, we won't be seeing NFL GameDay 2005, NCAA GameBreaker 2005, NBA ShootOut 2005 orаNCAA Final Four 2005.аStrange that Microsoft is doing the same thing with itsаXSN Sports franchise.

Iаguess neitherаcompany can compete with EA and to a lesser extent Sega, so they'll be reworking their sports titles over the next 2 years instead. I think it'll be tough to do that unless drastic changes are embraced and hopefully that happens with this latest move.
