News: A new adventure has arrived that is about friendship, doing the right thing, and more while in an arcade.

Button City

Button City, a colorful narrative-driven adventure about friendship and community, is now available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. A version for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is currently in development and will be released “soon”. Button City is from Subliminal Gaming, in partnership with Wings Interactive.

Button City is a charming small town filled with a diverse group of anthropomorphic animal residents. As the newest fox kid in town, the last thing Fennel wants to do is put his video games aside and leave his room. That is, until he learns about the town’s arcade and its most popular game, Gobabots.

Enthralled by the arcade machines and colorful surroundings, Fennel quickly befriends the Fluff Squad, a crew of arcade-loving animal kids determined to dethrone the current Gobabots champions. After a quick crash course in the 4v4 action game and making his first group of friends, Fennel finally feels at home.

Little did he know happiness in his new home would be so short-lived. When literal greedy fat cat Peppermint Pepperbottom sees an opportunity to tear down the town’s beloved arcade and build a new superstore in its place, he doesn’t think twice before closing its doors for good. Now it’s in the hands of the fluffiest–and most determined!– kids to save their favorite hangout, help their fellow townsfolk, and become the new Gobabots champions.

Button City tells a heartwarming tale of love, perseverance, and friendship with quirky characters, vibrant designs, and pop tunes. You will forge new friendships and collect cute outfits while mastering arcade mini-games, including Gobabots, the electric drifting of rEVolution Racer, and the dance rhythm game Prisma Beats.

“While at first glance Button City may seem like the summer shenanigans of a bunch of quirky kids, its story brings a powerful lesson taught about coming together to do what’s right,” said Ryan Woodward, Lead Programmer, Subliminal Gaming. “We also wanted to make sure that we found a way to tell a story about the communal experience of the arcade and how gaming brings people together.”

Subliminal Gaming counts among the first batch of titles selected for funding by WINGS Interactive, an investment fund focused on indie games from studios with women and marginalized genders as prominent members of development teams.

Button City is now available worldwide via Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 (excluding Japan), Nintendo Switch, Steam for PC and Mac, for $19.99 with support for English, French, German, Spanish, and Japanese languages. Will you be checking it out?
