News: Final Fantasy VII Remake finally has a native version on PS5 and comes with a new Yuffie expansion.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade has finally arrived from Square Enix. This is the graphically enhanced and expanded version of the award winning Final Fantasy VII Remake, which was originally released on the PlayStation 4 in the Spring of 2020. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is exclusive to the PlayStation 5 (for now) and that includes the expansion that includes Yuffie. The expansion itself is called FF7R Episode Intermission. You will follow Yuffie Kisaragi and her partner Sonon Kusakabe on a dangerous mission to infiltrate Midgar. This new episode brings new minigames to master, enemies to fight, a new summon to be able to utilize on the battlefield and a new Photo Mode to capture and share memorable moments.

Those who have purchased Final Fantasy VII Remake for the PlayStation 4 can download a free PS5 console enhancement update that includes all the next-gen visual and gameplay enhancements detailed above at no extra cost when playing on a PS5 console. FF7R Episode INTERmission is then available as a standalone download from PlayStation Store, after downloading the free PS5 console enhancement update. Owners of the disc version of Final Fantasy VII Remake on PS4 will require a PS5 console with disc drive in order to take advantage of this digital upgrade.

Once you downloaded the upgrade, regardless of whether it is digital or the physical version, you will need to buy Yuffie’s expansion, a.k.a. FF7R Episode INTERmission. Please note that there is an important caveat to all of this. Recently Final Fantasy VII Remake was given away for “free” to PlayStation Plus members. If you downloaded that “free” version, you are not eligible for the free upgrade to the PS5 version. If you want the PlayStation 5 version you will either need to actually buy the PS4 version or you can buy the new PS5 version. The best value for you will most likely be buying the Final Fantasy VII Intergrade for $69.99 on PlayStation 5. The reason being is because the Yuffie expansion comes with that. You might be able to find the PlayStation 4 version cheaper somewhere but then you will have to spend $20 to buy the expansion...so why not just get the PS5 native version in the first place and not worry about the hassle of upgrading PS4 games to PS5?

Final Fantasy VII Intergrade is available digitally and physically. The Standard Edition will cost $69.99 and does come with the new Yuffie expansion. There is also a Digital Deluxe Edition for $89.99 that comes with a digital mini soundtrack featuring songs, such as “Descendant of Shinobi,” and a digital artbook which includes concept and character sheets. Which one will you be picking up? Check out the video below and then tell us what you think. A word of warning though...Square likes to put spoilers in their trailers so know what you might be getting into before you watch it.
