News: Nintendo has confirmed a longstanding rumor that Skyward Sword is indeed receiving an HD remaster.

”The

During Nintendo’s presentation today one of the big first party titles that they revealed was The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD for the Nintendo Switch. A remaster for Skyward Sword has been rumored for some time now but it is nice to see it be officially announced and that those rumors were actually true. There appear to be some nice quality of life improvements for Skyward Sword on the Switch, as well as the ability to now play that game wherever you are thanks to the hybrid nature of Nintendo’s console.

From a canonical standpoint, Skyward Sword is the first game in the Zelda series. It predates everything that has come out before it. In this game you play the role of Link and you need to save Zelda, your childhood friend that needs to meet her destiny. Throughout the game you will soar through the sky between some floating islands and then go down and face off against a number of enemies determined to stop you, no matter the cost.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword was initially released on the Nintendo Wii. As such, the primary controls for the game were motion based. While the motion based controls remain intact for the Switch version, Nintendo has also added the option for more traditional controls as well. So you can play the Joy Cons if you want and get a bit more of an authentic experience of what it was like on the Wii or do what I am going to do and sit back as you go through the game using a Pro controller. The button only control scheme might work a bit different than you are used to but I have no doubt I’ll enjoy it more than going through the motions during my adventure. Be sure to check out the video below as an example as how things have been tweaked for the Switch version.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is slated to arrive on Nintendo Switch on July 16, 2021. In my opinion, this is the perfect summer game that will keep you busy for a bit while there might be triple digit temperatures outside. Do you plan on picking up The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword? Check out the aforementioned video and then leave your thoughts below.
