Paradox Interactive has just announced the next title in their “Surviving” franchise with Surviving the Aftermath. This title will launch in late 2020 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Epic Games Store, and Steam. If you don’t want to wait that long to check out this new game, an early access period will begin later this year on both the Epic Games Store and Xbox Game Preview.
“With the staggering growth of Surviving Mars this year we knew we had something special and we wanted to find new ways to utilize survival management gameplay,” Nikhat Ali, Lead Producer on Surviving the Aftermath and Surviving Mars at Paradox Interactive, said. “Surviving the Aftermath gives us the opportunity to experiment with these mechanics in new and interesting ways that we think our players will love.”
To go along with this announcement, Paradox revealed that their current title, Surviving Mars, is doing exceptionally well. In fact, it has seen record growth for the company in 2019. Ever since the release of the Green Planet expansion in May, Surviving Mars has seen eight times the amount of monthly active players. This stat surpasses the player peak Surviving Mars saw at launch by 19 percent.
To introduce Paradox’s Surviving game lineup to more players, Surviving Mars and all of its DLC are heading to the Epic Games store on October 10. Kicking off as part of Epic’s Free Games Program, the Surviving Mars base game and Space Race DLC will be free to download from Thursday, October 10 - Thursday, October 17. After the free period, the game will be available to purchase for suggested retail price of $29.99.
To commemorate the game's growth and launch on Epic Games store, Surviving Mars is having a modding contest where modders can create new animals for the Project Laika expansion and win prizes. For more details on how to participate in the modding contest, please visit the Paradox forums.
