News: Nintendo has come out of the gate strong with the Switch being in the #1 slot 4 out of the 6 months it has been on the market.
The NPD August rankings are now available. According to these rankings the Nintendo Switch was once again the best selling hardware. Since the Switch’s release back in March it has held the #1 slot 4 out of 6 months, which is pretty damn impressive. Consider that with the recent news that companies like Bethesda and Rockstar are going to be releasing games on Nintendo’s new device and it would appear that Mario and company have come out with a winner.
Moving over to the software side of things the top 10 games have been revealed for August. This list shouldn’t surprise a lot of people but it is fun to see regardless. So with that said, here are the top 10 selling games in August:
1. Madden NFL 18
2. Grand Theft Auto V
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
4. Splatoon 2
5. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
6. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege
7. Mario Kart 8
8. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered
9. Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy
10. Overwatch
Another strong showing for Nintendo with not just hardware but software as well, holding down three of the top ten slots for August. At this point Grand Theft Auto V is the juggernaut that can’t be stopped by anything, except maybe when Red Dead Redemption 2 gets released next year. What games do you expect to see in the September NPD numbers? Do you think Destiny 2 will secure the top spot or will it be something else? Tell us what you think below.
