The Final Fantasy VII Remake that everyone has been wanting for the past years is finally going to become a reality. Square Enix revealed this last night at Sony’s E3 press conference to a lot of cheers from those in attendance. Unlike last December at Sony’s own show in Las Vegas where both Sony and Square Enix trolled Final Fantasy fans, this is the real deal and the Final Fantasy VII remake will hit PlayStation 4 and PC first with an Xbox One version being released later.
Leading the development for the Final Fantasy VII remake will be key members from the original project, including producer Yoshinori Kitase, director Tetsuya Nomura and scenario writer Kazushige Nojima.
Final Fantasy VII was originally released on the first PlayStation back in 1997. It is widely considered one of the best games ever made and certainly one of the best RPGs ever made. The original game received praise for its “epic storyline,” “unique characters” and movie sequences that used cutting edge technology of that time. Since that original release Final Fantasy VII has sold more than 11 million copies worldwide although that figure will increase greatly once this remake is released on multiple platforms.
Check out the reveal trailer below and tell us what you think. Unfortunately it seems like the game isn’t coming out for a while as Square Enix sent out a press release stating they have begun production on the game, which probably means it is at least one to two years away, if not more. What do you think now that this project is official and we will finally be getting the Final Fantasy VII remake? Take a look at the video below and tell us what you think.
