News: By purchasing Mario Kart 8 and registering it with your Club Nintendo account you can get another first party Wii U title for free.

Mario Kart 8

Mario Kart 8 is now available in stores. In Mario Kart 8, get ready to rev your engine and take on racers from across the globe, with up to 12 players able to race or battle online, as long as everyone has the game and a broadband Internet connection. Players also can create public or private tournaments for which they specify the day of the week, the time and the rules. Per tradition, players will be able to race against ghost data from friends or even the top 10 worldwide racers. With the new Mario Kart TV feature, players can even watch their Highlight Reels, rewind them, play them in slow motion or share it with other players. Players with Google accounts can also upload their reels directly to their YouTube channels to show off their slick racing moves.

Nintendo also has a really great deal going on right now for those who pick up Mario Kart 8. If you purchase Mario Kart 8 and register your copy with Club Nintendo before July 31 you will receive a second Wii U game for free. Once you register your game with Club Nintendo the next time you sign in to your Club Nintendo account (it might take up to a day for this to happen) you will immediately be presented with your options as to which game you want to download for free. Your choices for your free game include the following:

  • New Super Mario Bros. U

  • Pikmin 3

  • The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD

  • Wii Party U

  • If you choose to take advantage of this special offer there are a few dates that you need to know. As I said above you must register Mario Kart 8 with your Club Nintendo account before July 31 to be eligible for this offer. Once you have done that you must choose which game you want for free before August 31. Once you have selected your free game and you have your download code you must download your game by September 30. If you miss these deadlines you will miss out on this offer but you have a couple of months to take advantage so be sure not to forget to do it.

The way you register Mario Kart 8 is you type in the Club Nintendo registration code that came with the game. If you currently don’t have a Club Nintendo account it is easy and free to sign up for one at club.nintendo.com. You should register all of the first party Nintendo games you get, as well as any systems you have, as that will earn you coins that you can use to buy special Nintendo memorabilia. Which of those games will you select as your free game? You can’t really go wrong with either choice. Tell us what you plan to get below.
