News: Another person seems to have left Sony and Naughty Dog and this time it is the game director for Uncharted 4.
Another executive is leaving Naughty Dog and this time it is Uncharted 4 game director, Justin Richmond. According to IGN, Justin will be going to Riot Games, presumably to work on League of Legends. Uncharted 4 was revealed late last year just before the PS4 hit the market and it was revealed at that time that Amy Henning and Justin Richmond were both working on it. Since then they have both left Naughty Dog.
Richmond has been with Naughty Dog for quite a while working on Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Before arriving at Naughty Dog he worked at Blue Omega Entertainment where he was a level designer, worked on level layout, worked on gameplay scripting and more. Before that he worked at Backbone Entertainment where he was an animator, environmental modeller and worked on environmental lighting.
Justin issued the following statement to IGN:
“I love the company and the people and know that they [Naughty Dog] will continue to create awesome games going forward. On a happier note, after careful consideration and exploration I have joined Riot Games. There is some really innovative stuff going on here that I can’t wait to be a part of.”
What do you think about another key member leaving Naughty Dog? Does it even matter? We’ll most likely find out more about Uncharted 4 in a few months at E3.
