News: Sony drops its price not only on the Vita itself but also the proprietary Vita memory.
PS Vita will receive its first price cut, effective tomorrow according to Sony. This was revealed earlier today during Sony’s Gamescom press conference where they announced some “significant” price cuts. The PlayStation Vita will now retail for $199.99 as opposed to the original $249.99 which is definitely a very nice price cut. The PS Vita memory cards received price cuts as well but those weren’t nearly as nice as the price the Vita itself received. The new prices for PS Vita memory is $14.99 for a 4gb card, $19.99 for a 8gb card, $39.99 for a 16gb card and $79.99 for a 32gb card.
"PlayStation Vita's new price makes it an even more compelling value for gamers looking for the ultimate in portable gaming," said Guy Longworth, Senior Vice President, PlayStation Brand Marketing at SCEA. "With a strong holiday lineup, including the first PS Vita games from critically acclaimed developers Guerrilla Games and Media Molecule, plus integration with the highly anticipated PlayStation 4, now is the perfect time to become a PlayStation Vita owner."
Along with the new price, SCEA is currently celebrating the PS Vita system with two promotions on PS Store. The Japanese Game Sale, running until August 26, offers discounts of up to 50 percent off on select PS Vita games from Japanese developers, including Metal Gear Solid HD Collection and Muramasa Rebirth. PS Plus members can enjoy up to 75 percent off in the Japanese Game Sale.
