News: Dolphins and guns. Two great things that are now together.

Fans have been clamoring for a new Ecco the Dolphin game for years and Sega has heard your cry by announcing Ecco: Water Wars 2.

Except today's April 1, so the game's not real.

In the next chapter of the blockbuster ECCO: WATER WARS series, Ecco the Dolphin, now a master of time travel and innumerable other highly improbable porpoise plot devices, must lead his fellow Dolphins in a fight against all of humanity Ц including the elderly.

The Sega America Blog has plenty of images from the "game" (including Ecco brandishing a shotgun in his flipper) and the tagline: "On these high seas, no one can hear you scream."

April Fool's Day Rating: Funny, but too on the nose.

If Sega had taken out the chainguns and a plotline ripped off from a "Simpsons" Halloween Special, the entire world would have believed this. That would have been cruel (the Ecco series really does still have lots of fans), but I could never wrap my head around a dolphin fighting pollution.
