News: Buy Guitar Hero 5, get Guitar Hero Van Halen two months early

The more Activision reveals about Guitar Hero: Van Halen, the more I start to hear warning bells about a subpar game. But for those that can't wait to rock out to "Hot For Teacher", this is good news indeed.

Activision has posted an FAQ detailing the rules and regulations related to their "Buy Guitar Hero 5, Get Guitar Hero: Van Halen Free" offer. In it, they clarify that Guitar Hero 5 must be purchased by September 30, not October 31 as previously thought (but gamers will still have until October 31 to redeem their free game). Secondly, Activision plans to begin sending out the free copies of Guitar Hero: Van Halen on October 13, over two months before the game's "official" release date of December 22.

This says one of two things. Either...

  • Activision wants to give back to their fans and treat them to a free game earlier than the general public as a bonus

    OR

  • Guitar Hero: Van Halen is a big stinker. Why else would a company wait until December 22 (AKA three days before Christmas) to release a game that they plan to have completed by early October.

I guess we'll find out which it is soon enough.
