News: Iron Man returns with an improved control scheme and a new storyline.

With Iron Man 2 getting a big boost from the cover of Entertainment Weekly and a ton of exposure at Comic-Con, Sega has pulled back the curtain a bit more on the video game adaptation. Developed by Sega Studios San Francisco (the team behind the first Iron Man game), Iron Man 2 is in the works for the DS, PlayStation 3, PSP, Wii and Xbox 360. It will be released in Spring 2010, alongside the film, which will hit theaters on May 7, 2010.

According to Sega, Iron Man 2 will be more than a regular movie-to-game adaptation as it will include a story that expands on the one found in the film. The game's expanded story will be crafted by Matt Fraction, who has previously written for the comics The Invincible Iron Man and The Uncanny X-Men. While this "expanded storyline" idea is not unique in the world of movie-to-game adaptations (X-Men Origins: Wolverine pulled it off a few months ago), Sega's Iron Man 2 will include new villains:

This brand-new tale takes gamers deeper into the world of Iron Man, adding to the excitement of the upcoming Marvel Studios film. Iron Man 2 offers fans a chance to play against epic enemies not found in the film of the same name, such as the unforgettable Crimson Dynamo. In the game's original story, Tony Stark has gifted the world with new technology in order to make it a better place. His philanthropic nature isn't enough to keep evil at bay, however, as Iron Man's enemies have crafted their own devious designs based on the technology. Ultimately, Iron Man will face epic battles against huge enemies, as the fate of the world is left in his powerful hands.

Sega has also promised that fan complaints over the first Iron Man game will be heard. The company said Iron Man 2 will feature a greater focus on hand-to handcombat, as well as a completely redesigned control scheme. Sega also plans to add both interior and exterior environments to the game as well as fully destructible environments.

We'll have more soon.
