News: The Wii Remote add-on is necessary to play Ubisoft's sequel.

Nintendo Power unveiled Red Steel 2 last month in a preview of their June 2009 issue. Now that the issue is hitting newsstands, another huge piece of news concerning the game has been revealed.

According to the magazine, Red Steel 2 will require the Wii MotionPlus add-on that will released next month. The add-on will increase the accuracy of the Wii Remote and according to Ubisoft Creative Director Jason Vandenberghe, the game would not be the same without it:

УIt's a huge risk,Ф Jason Vandenberghe said. УWe have no idea what the penetration rate for Wii MotionPlus will be. We assume high. We would like it to be high.

УI would love to say to you that it'll be compatible with just a regular controller, but the gameplay simply isn't there without MotionPlus. That core experience just isn't there without it.Ф

Red Steel 2 will be released on the Wii this Fall while the Wii MotionPlus will be released next month. In addition to being available on its own, the add-on will also be released as a bundle with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10. It's unknown if Ubisoft and Nintendo will offer a similar bundle with Red Steel 2, but if the MotionPlus is a required part of the game, it seems likely.

We'll have more soon.
