News: Extreme Mode announced as Wii exclusive mode.

Sega has announced that the upcoming House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return will feature an exclusive Wii mode known as Extreme Mode.

Extreme Mode will be available after the player completes both The House of the Dead 2 and The House of the Dead III and Sega promises that it will be hellishly challenging. Extreme Mode will make the enemies faster while making the shot radius of the player smaller.

But players will get a chance to use a melee attack by pressing A when the zombies get close enough (hopefully the melee button can be remapped when using the Wii Zapper). The melee attack can also be used to block enemy attacks, projectiles, and boss attacks. But it depletes all of the player's bullets, so a reload will be necessary after every time it's used.

Extreme Mode will certainly add a new dimension to the classic House of the Dead gameplay.

The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return is still on track for a March release, we'll have more soon.
