News: Battlefront.com proves its mettle, once again, with the 'uber patch.'

WWII afficionados and RTS gamers, rejoice: the Uber Patch is now ready for download. It adds plenty of maps to both single-player and multiplayer modes. It also corrects a slew of issues that gamers have experienced with the game. The sticklers for detail who complained about the line of sight calculations in the original release will be happy to hear that the system has gotten an upgrade to take into account things like plants and leaves. Issues with multi-core and hyperthreaded CPUs have been fixed. There are plenty of gameplay fixes, including adjustments to the behavior of the air support. Multiplayer load times have been improved. And the burning times of vehicles has been increased, for anyone interested in that sort of thing.

From the release notes:

This 1.20 Gigabyte sized free patch packs an extraordinary amount of content including an all new Battle Generator, Map Editor, two new playable campaigns, new single player mission, new multiplayer maps, new multiplayer game modes, new Internet Game Browser, updated Line of Sight system and improved AI behavior and performance increases across the board. YES, this patch is massive, that's why its the UBER patch. Grab it today and play Theatre of War like you have never played it before!

Theatre of War is an RTS with a difference. It's intended to satisfy the pickiest of WWII buffs with its realistic ballistics, attention to historical detail, and meticulously modeled tanks and other vehicles. In fact, the patch includes fixes for some weapon and vehicle models to make them more accurate.
