News: 4 players times 30 lives equals 120 dead Contra soldiers. Because Contra is hard.

The August 2007 issue of Nintendo Power has confirmed some details on two very anticipated upcoming titles for the DS.

First, the big news. When Contra 4 ships this October it will feature a 4-player cooperative mode. Yes, Bill, Lance, Mad Dog and Scorpion are finally all fighting the good fight together. Other details have also started to emerge including the return of the "Base" boss and the behind the back "Tunnel" levels from the first Contra along with the new ability to "stack" weapons to create more powerful versions of old favorites (for example, a five shot Spread Gun).

Finally, the big NP is reporting that Square-Enix has announced a remake of the first Front Mission (originally released on the Super NES) will make it's way to the DS this fall. The first Front Mission was never released in America, so gamers looking for a new challenge in the mecha-filled strategy series will soon get their chance.

We'll have more on both of these titles soon.
