News: Tony Stewart and company bring their brand of racing to the PS2, PS3 and Xbox 360.

EA has announced that EA Tiburon is hard at work on NASCAR 08, which is currently scheduled for a Summer release on the PS2, PS3 and Xbox 360. This marks the first time the series will be available on next-generation consoles.

As always, NASCAR 08 promises to be "the most realistic NASCAR racing game yet." The game places players in the roll cage of a rookie racer who has to claw his way to the top by "[developing] your racing skills to gain licenses and contracts from hungry owners and unlock legendary top performing cars from NASCAR's biggest stars." The game will feature 40 tuning options and 16-player online racing over Xbox Live or the PlayStation Network.

The cover athlete of this edition of NASCAR will be the driver of the No. 20 Home Depot Chevrolet for Joe Gibbs Racing, Tony Stewart.

"Being on the cover of NASCAR 08 is an honor for me and my team. I am really impressed with the next generation game features and graphics - the realism and authenticity are amazing," said Stewart.

We'll have more on NASCAR 08 soon.
