News: Rush Racing is reborn on the PS2 and Xbox and Mortal Kombat: Deception has been announnced for the GameCube.

Last month Midway quietly made a few new game announcements, probably because nothing substantial was revealed about either title beyond that they exist.

First off, Midway has announced that they plan to resurrect the popular Rush series as a new game for the PS2 and Xbox titled L.A. Rush. The game is currently scheduled for a Spring 2005 release and will combine the Rush staples of insane jumps and stunts with the "living city" gameplay system that is popular with street racing games right now. Taking a page from Midnight Club 3, Midway has partnered with Rides Magazine and West Coast Customs to be sure the cars and customization options are as real as they can be. Players will be able to explore all of these options as they explore Beverly Hills, Compton, Hollywood, LAX, and Santa Monica Beach.

Secondly, Midway has announced that Mortal Kombat: Deception is being prepped for the GameCube. It's currently scheduled to ship sometime in the first half of 2005. No enhancements have been announced, but I think it's safe to assume that online play is probably out.

We'll have more on both of these games as it develops.
