News: It's April? It's never too early for Madden news.

EA closed out the business day with an announcement concerning Madden NFL 07. Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander has been tapped to pose for the game's cover in year two of Madden's exclusivity agreement.

"To be on the cover of Madden NFL 07 is a big milestone in my career since I have always been a huge fan of this franchise," said Alexander. "EA Sports is focusing on the running game in this year's version, so I was honored when I was chosen to be on the cover to represent the improved running game."

Alexander was 11 when Madden first began 17 years ago and in that time the venerable series has sold 51 million copies across every conceivable platform.

Madden NFL 07 is being developed by EA Tiburon (as always) and is scheduled for an August release (was there a doubt?) for the Xbox 360, PS2, GameCube, Xbox, DS, PC, PSP and Game Boy Advance. That's basically everything.

EA has already opened the Madden 07 website so fans can keep up with the latest news.
