News: The KoF fighters go 3D again.
SNK today announced that King of Fighters 2006 is coming to the PS2 this Summer. Eschewing the series' 2D roots again, KoF 2006 will be a 3D sequel to King of Fighters: Maximum Impact. Those of you with long memories will remember that KoF: Maximum Impact 2 was announced for the Xbox 360 at last year's Xbox Summit.
This renaming of the series is interesting because the "yearly" releases had previously referred to KoF's 2D efforts. Might KoF 2006 spell the end of SNK's development of 2D fighters?
