News: Sierra's popular city building sim series is back.

A long time ago, Sierra released Caesar III, a city building sim based on Ancient Rome that was a hit with gamers everywhere. After several stops in Ancient Egypt and Greece, Sierra (now part of Vivendi Universal Interactive) has announced that Caesar IV is in the works.

In development at Tilted Mill and on schedule for a 2006 release date, Caesar IV brings the series into 3D for the first time while once again giving the player control over the city building and governmental aspects of this ancient paradise. Of course, the ultimate goal is still to become Caesar.

"Caesar III was a tremendous worldwide success, with this latest installment, we feel fans across the globe will once again enjoy all this series has to offer," said Bret Berry, Vice President of Production at Vivendi Universal Games. "We are all committed to ensuring that in every aspect this sequel builds on all the qualities that make the Caesar series unique."

Oh, and if you want to see this new 3D engine in action, here are the first seven screens.

We'll have more on Caesar IV soon.
