News: And apparently so does Namco as they have greenlit the sequel for a US release.

Katamari Damacy 2 has been in development for a Japanese release almost ever since the first one shipped. Currently it's on track for a June or July release in Namco's homeland, but now it's coming to America as well.

Things are much as they always were in We Love Katamari (that's the actual title). The King of All Cosmos needs more Katamaris to fill the sky so the Prince and his pals roll out again. New items to roll up and new Earthly locations highlight We Love Katamari. A two player co-op game will be included this time in addition to the return of the Battle Mode.

"'Katamari Damacy' was the break-out hit of 2004 garnering tremendous accolades while delivering an innovative yet intuitive style of play to gamers," said Yoshi Niki, Business Unit Director at Namco Hometek Inc. "We are hard at work on the second installment of this landmark series that will deliver a new level of originality and style that will have gamers shouting, 'We Love Katamari!'"

We Love Katamari is currently marked for release at a To Be Announced time of 2005.
