News: Space... the final frontier of first person shooters.
Superannuation is probably the greatest Internet sleuth there is. And his latest find shows that Activision has some lofty plans for the Call of Duty series.
Or maybe not. The megapublisher has purchased a variety of science fiction-inspired domain names for the franchise, but registered URLs aren't always a good predictor of future game announcements. But even if they never exist, don't the games that could belong to these websites sound awesome?:

Activision currently has at least two Call of Duty games in development. Call of Duty 8 will be a traditional first person shooter and is planned for a 2011 release, while Sledgehammer Games is hard at work on an "action-adventure" entry in the franchise, which is also planned for 2011.
According to Activision executives, Infinity Ward is also hard at work on a new Call of Duty game. Whether that's the aforementioned CoD8, or something else entirely, has yet to be determined.
We'll have more soon.
