News: What game will Activision pack plastic controllers in with next?

It's long been hinted that the next Tony Hawk game would use some kind of skateboard peripheral as opposed to a standard controller and yesterday Activision confirmed it when they announced Tony Hawk: Ride for the PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360.

The announcement came via a trailer for the game that debuted in the latest episode of GameTrailers TV. The trailer can be found below, although it doesn't reveal much than that the game is in the works and that it is being developed by RoboModo and Buzz Monkey (as opposed to Neversoft, who created the Tony Hawk series and developed all of its previous entries).

Activision has also launched the game's official website at THRide.com, which includes a better look at the skateboard peripheral and a promise that the game will be playable at this year's E3 Expo.

Here's a look at the peripheral, which just begs the question, if you balance on it like a skateboard, what are the buttons on the side for?...
