News: The sequel to BioWare's hit RPG is coming to the PC and Xbox 360. Sorry PS3 owners.

While everyone knew it was in development, Electronic Arts and BioWare have officially announced Mass Effect 2. They've also confirmed that it will be coming to the PC and Xbox 360 and that it will be released in early 2010.

Not much else about the game was revealed, except that there will be "even greater peril" than the first game:

In this dark second chapter, Saren's evil army of Geth soldiers has just been defeated, and humans, still struggling to make their mark on the galactic stage, are now faced with an even greater peril...

EA also reiterated that they envision Mass Effect as a trilogy and referred to Mass Effect 2 as the "dark second chapter."

We'll have more soon.
