News: Sad news for gamers who wanted to play these games this year.

When Capcom announced Dead Rising 2 and Lost Planet 2 they left one very important detail out: when these two hugely anticipated games would be released. Yesterday, Chris Kramer, Capcom's Senior Director of Corporate Communications appeared on the Major Nelson podcast and confirmed that both games will see a release in 2010 (emphasis mine):

"Capcom's kind of on a 30-year high right now. It's a pretty amazing place to be, between everything we've got going right now, between the launch of Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5, and our big titles for next year, Lost Planet 2 and Dead Rising 2."

While it's a sad turn of events for those who wanted to play Dead Rising 2 or Lost Planet 2 this year, it's not surprising. When a company doesn't announce a release date when they announce a game, it usually means it's not coming out anytime soon.

Dead Rising 2 is currently in development for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 while Lost Planet 2 is officially in development only on the Xbox 360.

We'll have more soon.
