News: March 3 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 return and the Summer for the PSN/XBLA re-release of the game that started it all.

Sometimes you really have to wonder what goes on at the offices of D3 Publisher. The company behind the recently released Onechanbara games (AKA "girls in bikinis with swords versus zombies") for the Wii and Xbox 360 has announced the release date of its next project, Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard. This sendup of classic shooters like Contra and Duke Nukem will be released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on March 3.

Not only will Eat Lead satirize the shooter genre, but D3 has also recruited Will Arnett (GOB on Arrested Development) to voice Matt Hazard and Neil Patrick Harris (who needs no introduction) to voice the evil mastermind CEO Wallace Wellesley.

As part of the marketing campaign for the game, D3 also talked about Matt Hazard's 25 year "history" in video games (click on "Relive Matt's Past") and will "re-release" the fictional 8-bit adventure that supposedly started it all on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade this Summer.

We'll have more soon.
