News: Michael Phelps-Fu is real! I knew it!

Ever since a game starring Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps was announced, speculation has run rampant on exactly what kind of game it will be. Phelps' sport, swimming, doesn't exactly lend itself too well to video games. So gamers have been hoping for some kind of wild action game like Shaq-Fu or Michael Jordan: Chaos in the Windy City.

It looks like we may get our wish.

Here's what Adam Kline, the president of 505 Games, had to say about the game in a Baltimore Sun article from December 16th that seems to have slipped through the cracks (bolding mine):

"Swimming will be a part of it, but it won't be set in an Olympic pool going back and forth. This is a pure action game."

The currently untitled Michael Phelps game is in development for the iPhone and consoles and will be released in Spring 2010.
