News: Can The Rock: The Game be far behind?

MTV Games has announced they've teamed up with uberproducer Jerry Bruckheimer to create a new "game incubation studio" within MTV Games. According to the deal, Bruckheimer will work with a "team of experienced video game experts, artists and storytellers" to create "new game concepts and intellectual property." The deal also includes the possibility that Bruckheimer could produce a film or television series based on these new concepts.

While no specific games have been announced as of yet, Bruckheimer seems very excited:

?Video games represent a new and innovative medium for what we've always tried to do, which is to tell great stories. But this medium is unique in that it gives the player control over how those stories unfold,? said Jerry Bruckheimer. ?I look forward to working with MTV Games to create new original game stories, always looking for ways to innovate the medium.?

Bruckheimer's appeal to game players was cited as the reason for the deal by MTV Networks President Van Toffler. For their part of the deal, MTV has promised to promote the games that come out of this deal on all of their networks: MTV, CMT, Spike and VH1.

We'll have more soon.
