News: I wonder what it'll be.

THQ has announced they've reached a deal with Nintendo to develop a game based on a Nintendo franchise for the Wii.

The confidential deal did not disclose which of Nintendo's franchise favorites THQ would get to play with, but the smart money is on Pokemon. THQ has previously developed several Pokemon games for the PC under their Valusoft label.

The deal could result in multiple games as it will stay in effect until October 2009 and Nintendo will have the right to approve any game concept, boxart design and marketing materials.

We'll have more on this mystery game when it's no longer confidential.

UPDATE: A THQ representative has confirmed that this announcement was merely legal boilerplate announcing the fact that THQ is still a developer of Wii games. Apparently, every developer files one of these announcements with the SEC regularly. Why THQ chose to release it publicly (and with such fishy sounding statements given their history of previously working with a Nintendo property) are a mystery.
