News: The Tony Hawk developers are pulling a Van Halen on us.

Some bands have never been shy about switching out members of the band while still using the original name (just look at the current lineups of Everclear and Smashing Pumpkins). And now it appears Guitar Hero will follow their lead.

Future Guitar Hero games will now be developed by Neversoft, the boys behind the Tony Hawk series and Gun. Do you find that hard to believe? Well, head on over to Neversoft's website and see for yourself. The splash page has been replaced with a "Now Hiring" banner for the game. While the job posting don't specifially mention any details about Guitar Hero III (or the recently revealed by EGM Guitar Hero: 1980s Edition), Neversoft is looking to fill two PlayStation 3-centric positions.

No one really knows why Activision has made this change, but with MTV's recent acquisition of original GH developer Harmonix and Activision's purchase of original GH publisher RedOctane, money may have been at the center of it all.

We'll have more on the future of the Guitar Hero franchise soon.
