News: Square-Enix is a little miffed over rumors about Final Fantasy XIII and Dragon Quest 9.

Rumors ran rampant last week that Square-Enix would be bringing Final Fantasy XIII and Dragon Quest 9 to the Xbox 360 and/or the Revolution in addition to the PS3.

Square-Enix has decided to quash this rumor (with authority!) with the following statement released today:

"Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., Microsoft Corporation, and Nintendo Co., Ltd. all have expressed plans to release next-generation game consoles between the years 2005 and 2006.

In this regard, speculation about the availability of Final Fantasy series and Dragon Quest series games on these systems has been reported on various media. However, we have made no concrete decision on our strategic direction of this issue.

We will continue to disclose any important information regarding business operations immediately after we make any relevant decision."

I think the bolded part is important as Square-Enix has already confirmed a ton of next-gen Final Fantasy support.

If you'll recall, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles was announced for the Revolution at E3, where Final Fantasy XI for the Xbox 360 was also revealed. And Final Fantasy XIII was confirmed for the PS3 at TGS.

So tell us Square-Enix, what do you have planned for the next-gen?
