News: Two contests for the price of one.

Two contests were announced today that may be of interest to a lot of gamers out there.

First, Majesco has announced the million dollar "Race to Save Humanity" contest in Advent Rising will start today at 8 PM EST. Each week for the next six weeks, players connected to Xbox Live will be able to download a secret "A" that will be hidden somewhere in the game. And each week Majesco will provide a clue that will help players track it down. Once you find the A, players are to log on to www.adventtrilogy.com and enter a secret code the game provides. First one in wins the money and subsequent winners get these prizes:

  • Six weeks of cash prizes totaling $10k, $20k, $30k, $40k, $50k, and in the final week, the Grand Prize of $1,000,000

  • SoBe refrigerator and a one-year supply of SoBe drinks

Ready for the clue? Here it is:

Clue: Gideon says, ?Alright, at least she is still alive. Now we've just got to make it back in one piece...?

Level range: Located somewhere within the Epilogue or Chapter One...

If Advent Rising isn't your thing, maybe you'd rather be a zombie? Hip Games is offering a contest where gamers can become a zombie in George Romero's City of the Dead. Behold:

To enter and become a zombie in "City of the Dead", contestants are asked to submit one digital photograph with an angry facial expression. Those selected as finalists will be contacted to submit additional photographs with various facial expressions. Long hair should be tied back in a low ponytail and glasses should be removed.

The contest runs from June 8th - June 20th and players should enter their pictures at www.gamespot.com/promos/2005/hipzombie.

Three winners will be selected on June 22 and in addition to becoming zombies they will receive receive a credit in the instruction book and a free copy of the game when it ships next year. The winners will be announced on GameSpot Live on June 27.

So good luck to all in both contests, now if you'll excuse me, I have to put on my mean face.
