News: Crash Tag Team Racing is coming this fall.

In what looks like a move right out of the Mario Kart: Double Dash!! playbook comes VU Games' announcement of Crash Tag Team Racing. The third Crash kart racer is scheduled to ship in the fall for the PS2, Xbox, GameCube and DS.

The game is being developed by Radical Entertainment (except for the DS version, which is being done by Sensory Sweep) and is Radical's first new game since they were purchased by VU Games.

Players of CTTR will be able to combine their cars with an opponent's in the middle of the race and create some kind of super car. Then (cue Double Dash!!) players will be able to jump between racing and using their karts newly aquired turret gun. Like Radical's last vehicle game, The Simpsons: Hit & Run, players will be able to get out of their karts and explore the world. This exploration will lead to upgrades and hidden tracks. How this fits in with the kart racing is unknown.

All three console versions of CTTR will feature spltscreen action of up to eight players via the system link. The DS will offer wireless multiplayer of up to four players.

"We're thrilled to give Crash Bandicoot fans another hilarious adventure with the irrepressible marsupial," said Ian Wilkinson, President, Radical Entertainment. "The development team showed off its ability to create a break-out vehicle-based game with The Simpsons: Hit & Run and is set to deliver another innovative and wildly fun title in Crash Tag Team Racing."
