Final Glimpse: Like Tara from Buffy?

It's not that often that a game comes along and becomes a worldwide phenomenon, but that's exactly what Pokщmon did upon its release causing many developers to set out to create their own variations of the monster-based RPG that Pokщmon introduced. While none of these clones sent people scrambling to their local toy stores to be the first to own a copy of the game the way Pokщmon did, a few such as Enix's Dragon Warrior Monsters did gain some moderate success. Now, with the Pokщmon craze beginning to wane in popularity, Enix plans to cash in with their sequel, Dragon Warrior Monsters 2.

When a family of monster farmers move to the island GreatLog their children, Cobi and Tara, are soon introduced to the mischievous duo of Prince Kameha and his crony Warubou. Kameha and Warubou are the local pranksters, but one day their pranks get a little out of hand as they accidentally cause the island to begin to sink and its up to Cobi and Tara to save the day. Cobi and Tara must set out on their quest to find the Magic Keys and along the way they are able to befriend and train creatures to aid them on their journey.

Much in the same mold of Pokщmon, this game you may play this game on one of two cartridges, Cobi's Adventure or Tara's Adventure, but unlike Pokщmon each cartridge will feature a whole new adventure with new puzzles and quests. Throughout your journey you will encounter many different types of monsters for you to battle and persuade to join your party. As your collection of monsters begins to grow you will be able to breed your monsters together to create some very unique creatures.

You will travel through lands and dungeons that may look similar to those that you have already encountered in the first one, but rest assured you have never seen these lands to this large a scale before. Dragon Warrior Monsters will only be playable on the Game Boy Color and it will also be one of the largest games to have come around for the Game Boy yet, featuring close to 4 megabytes of gaming goodness and making your adventure much longer then before.

Final Thoughts
This game not only features 300 different types of monsters to battle and collect, but also the ability to trade and challenge your friends to a battle through the use of a link cable. This game will be Enix's last venture on the GBC before they move all their work onto the GBA, but so far it looks very promising.
