News: With a Game Pass membership you can have one game out at a time and return to Gamestop at any time to get another title.

”Gamestop"

Gamestop has revealed that they will be introducing a new program in late November called the Game Pass. What this new service is going to basically be is a game rental service where you can take out any used game you want and keep it as long as you want. When you are done with that title simply return it to Gamestop and get another one. It is a much better alternative than a service like Gamefly where you have to mail back your game and then wait for them to send you another title and then wait for that game to arrive in your mail. Now the whole process will only take a few minutes. So what exactly are the details?

Price

The Gamestop Game Pass will cost $60 for a six month membership. At the end of the six month period you can select one game to keep at no extra cost. That breaks it down to basically $10 a month. A similar Gamefly plan where you can only have out one game at a time runs you $15.95. When you add that all up if you want to use Gamestop’s new service for a year it will cost you 120 dollars whereas the comparable plan on Gamefly will cost you approximately 191 dollars.

When do I pay?

You pay $60 up front when you sign up. There is no month to month option at this time.

When does this program begin?

Gamestop has said that they will launch this program on November 19, right in time for the holidays.

Are there any special requirements to use this service?

The only thing you will need to sign up for to use this Game Pass program is a membership in the Gamestop Power-Up Rewards program. There is both a paid membership option and a free membership option, both of which can be used to sign up for Game Pass.

Is this service available for all platforms? Is it available for Xbox One, PS4, Switch, etc?

All Gamestop said was that you will be able to take out any used game you want. They didn’t mention any special restrictions so, theoretically, this should apply to every platform.

What do you think of this Gamestop Game Pass program? It is similar to what Blockbuster tried to do before they went out of business. Will you become a member of this Game Pass program?
