Some more details are starting to get released for Call of Duty's return to World War II. With the return to this time period the development team at Sledgehammer Games is going for more "gritty realism, authenticity and cinematic intensity on an epic scale."
In addition to the campaign there will be some changes to the multiplayer component with a new mode, system and gameplay innovations for the series across some iconic map locations. There will also be an all new Nazi Zombies cooperative mode about the Third Reich.

The story in Call of Duty: WWII is about the unforgettable heroism of the soldiers who fought together in a war that changed the world forever. It is an honest portrayal of World War II from the perspective of the famed 1st Infantry Division, with an ensemble cast of global and diverse characters. Players will storm the beaches of Normandy on D-Day, march across France to liberate Paris and ultimately push forward into Germany in some of the most monumental battles of all-time.
Call of Duty: WWII Multiplayer combat immerses players in grounded, fast-paced action featuring an arsenal of authentic weapons and equipment, set in some of the most iconic locations in World War II’s European theater. Multiplayer also delivers a new approach to character and create-a-class through Divisions, War, an all-new narrative multiplayer mode of play, and Headquarters, a first of its kind for the Call of Duty social community, designed for players to interact and socialize with friends. The definitive World War II next generation experience also introduces Nazi Zombies, an all-new cooperative mode featuring a unique standalone storyline set during World War II that’s full of unexpected, adrenaline-pumping action. When Call of Duty: WWII launches on November 3 there will be three different versions to choose from. They will include:

Digital Deluxe Edition - This edition will come with the season pass and more for $99.99
Pro Edition - This edition will come with the season pass, a collectible steelbook and more for $99.99
If you pre-order Call of Duty: WWII right now you will also gain access to the multiplayer beta that takes place later this year. There has been no official announcement from Activision about it but leaked marketing materials suggest the beta might be on PS4 first and then other platforms later.

Activision has just released the first reveal trailer for Call of Duty: WWII. As the name implies Call of Duty is going back to World War II. Not much else is known about it at the moment but we expect details to be released throughout the day.
The first Call of Duty game was released back in 2003 and was also set in the World War II era. There would wind up being many games set in that time including Call of Duty, Call of Duty: United Offensive, Call of Duty: Finest Hour, Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 2: Big Red One, Call of Duty 3 and Call of Duty: World at War. Call of Duty: World at War was released on the last generation of consoles back in 2008 and was the last time this franchise visited World War II, until now.
