News: If you are in the preview program you can now play the original Borderlands on your Xbox One.
Major Nelson has just revealed that a new game has been added to the Backwards Compatibility list on Xbox One. That game is the original Borderlands by Gearbox Software. Borderlands is available to download right now for preview program members. That is, of course, assuming you own the digital version of it. If you still own the disc based version from the Xbox 360 you can now put the disc into your Xbox One and it will ping the servers to download Borderlands. If that is the case you will obviously need your disc in the console whenever you want to play it. It was also revealed that if you played Borderlands on the Xbox 360 you can carry over your save files, add-ons and achievements.
If you are new to the preview program or haven’t done anything with the backwards compatibility feature yet, the games available to install are really easy to find. All you have to do is go to “My Games & Apps” and then go to the Games section. Once you do that go all the way to the right. Once you do that you will most likely see another section that says “Find more in the Xbox Store.” If you do indeed see that then wait for a few seconds for the games to load and then anything that is available to you to download will appear and you can download it by clicking on it. It is a really easy process and one that will allow you to begin download your backwards compatible games quickly.
“We are proud to support Xbox One Backward Compatibility by bringing the complete, original Borderlands to Xbox One, including all downloadable content,” said 2K President Christoph Hartmann. “We know many of our fans have put in dozens, even hundreds, of hours exploring the world of Pandora on their Xbox 360, and now they can continue their adventures on Xbox One.”
This is great news especially considering that 2K and Gearbox didn’t bother to give us the original Borderlands in the Borderlands “collection” that is out now.
